Man held for killing son

In a case of filicide, a middle-aged man was today arrested on charges of killing his son with a hoe over his drinking habit near Udumalpet in neighbouring Tirupur district, police said.

Chellamuthu, the victim's father picked up a quarrel last night as his son had been torturing his mother seeking money to buy liquor for the last few weeks, they added.

In a fit of rage, the man attacked his son with a hoe resulting in his death on the spot, police said.

Police personnel from nearby Amaravathi rushed to the place and arrested Chellamuthu.
