Man held for raping, murdering elderly woman

A man was on Wednesday arrested for allegedly raping a 68-year-old woman, who died soon after the sexual assault last week, police said.

The man, a labourer, reportedly forced himself on the elderly woman, a pavement dweller, on October 11, they said.

Police zeroed in on the culprit with the help of CCTV footage.

On interrogation, he confessed to committing the offence, the police added.
