The Narcotics Control Bureau here has arrested one person from Uttar Pradesh in connection with his alleged involvement in smuggling drugs.
NCB Zonal Director Dilip Kumar Srivastava said its officials arrested Vinay from a Jaunpur in Uttar Pradesh yesterday night in connection with the seizure of 2400 bottles of cough syrup used as intoxicant from Sealdah railway station in May last year.
"The accused had booked that consignment from Varanasi railway station for Sealdah in a parcel van. The consignment was meant for Bangladesh. We have arrested the person and trying to find out who else are involved in it," Srivastava told PTI.
The probe is on and two or three more persons are on the radar of the NCB in connection with this seizure, another officer of the NCB said.
