Man held with fake currency in Bihar

A man was today arrested with fake Indian currency notes (FICN) with a face value of more than Rs one lakh in Bihar's West Champaran district, police said.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team caught the man carrying the FICN from Nautan police station area and recovered Rs 1.22 lakh in fake currency from the carrier of his bike, the Superintendent of Police (SP) of West Champaran, Jayant Kant, said.

The man had procured the fake currency notes from Maldah in the neighbouring state of West Bengal, the SP said.

He also said that the man was wanted in various cases related to circulation of counterfeit notes in Bihar, West Bengal, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh.

 

The fake notes recovered from his possession were in the denominations of Rs 2,000 and Rs 500, the SP said, adding that the man was being interrogated.
