Man held with pistol at foothills of Tirumala

The 35-year-old man, travelling by a state-owned APSTRC bus, was found to be carrying a pistol, two live cartridges and a knife when his baggage was scanned at Alippery checkpoint, at the start of the ghat section of the road leading to Tirumala, the abode of Lord Venkateswara.
Initial inquiries showed that the man was an accused in a murder committed recently in Gulbarga, police said.
