Man impersonating as IG held

A man was today arrested by Haryana Police for impersonating as an Inspector General of Police and threatening a shopkeeper here.

The man, claiming to be an IG, purchased five mobile phones worth Rs 1.5 lakh from a shop in Sector 11 here, police said, adding he refused to pay for the mobile phones and threatened saying he was a senior police officer.

The shop owner lodged a complaint against the said man and during the investigation, police found that the accused is a fake police officer.

However, police did not divulge his name.

Police also impounded his car bearing a 'Government of India' sticker, IRS flag, and number plate with two stars.
