A gram pancahyat member allegedly killed his wife and two daughters before committing suicide by hanging himself at their home at Manchi near here today, police said.
The bodies of the wife and children bore deep wounds and were lying in a pool of blood with preliminary investigation indicating they were hacked to death by 48-year-old Padmanabh Nayak in a fit of rage after a quarrel, police said.
The deceased have been identified as Nayak's wife Pushpavati (34) and daughters Pruthvi (9) and Poorvi (7), police said, adding, the gruesome incident came to light when Nayak's sister-in-law who lived nearby, came to his house this morning.

Marital discord was cited to be the reason which prompted Padmanabh to commit the crime.
He had undergone treatment for some psychological problems a few months ago. His wife was associated with a self-help group of Dharmasthala temple trust, police said.
