Man sentenced to 10 years of RI for raping minor girl
A court in Odisha's Balasore district today sentenced a man to 10 years rigorous imprisonment (RI) for raping a minor girl.
Special Additional Sessions Judge Ajanta Sadangi also slapped a fine of Rs 5,000 on Gobinda Das.
Failure to pay the fine would invite an additional three months of jail, said Special Public Prosecutor of Balasore Pranab Panda who represented the government in the case.
Das (50) had raped the girl on March 2.
He was arrested and booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.
