Man shoots at estranged wife

A man shot at his estranged wife, injuring her critically, in Naraina area of south west Delhi, police said today.

Pratime, 24, sustained a bullet injury in her neck and was undergoing treatment at DDU Hospital.

Police said Pratima, a factory worker, has been living in Naraina village separately from her husband Pawan, 32, following marital discord.

A PCR call was received around 8.38 PM yesterday about a woman being shot at in Naraina area. Policemen reached the spot and took the injured woman to hospital, a police officer said.

Pawan, who lived at New Modern Shahdara, had visited Pratima yesterday and after some heated exchange of words, he shot her with a country-made pistol, the officer said.
 

The locals nabbed him and handed over to police.

A case under attempt to murder charge has been registered and the accused has been arrested. The weapon has also been seized, he added.
