"Police are on the job to arrest the killers. Special squads have been formed to nab them at the earliest. We are optimistic that the assailants would be booked shortly. However, we have detained a man suspecting his involvement in the crime," said Inspector Annapura Behera.
Tension has mounted at Tendakuda and adjoining villages following the gunning down of the man who was a native settler. Agitated locals staged a road blockade demanding immediate arrest of the accused.
The body was handed over to the bereaved family after completion of medico-legal formalities today. A case under section-302 and 34 of IPC and section-25 and 27 of Arms Act has been registered. Exact motive of the crime is yet to be ascertained, Behera added.
