Three hardcore Maoists, including a married couple, surrendered in Chhattisgarh's insurgency-hit Narayanpur district today, police said.

Surrendered Maoist cadres cited their "frustration and disappointment" due to high-handedness by senior Maoist cadres particularly from Andhra Pradesh as well their "exploitation of women" and lower-ranking rebels, as reasons to turn themselves in, Narayanpur Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) O P Sharma told PTI.

Those surrendered were identified as 'Ranjeet' alias Situram Dhruva (30), his wife 'Jano' alias Sambati (27) and Dalsai Badde (28), Sharma said.

'Ranjeet', who is a section commander of military platoon number two of the Maoist second battalion and a native of Bijapur was allegedly involved in several major Maoist incidents in Chhattisgarh as well as Maharashtra for the past 13 years, the ASP said.

He was prominently involved in the Jhara camp attack which killed five security personnel in 2011, a gun battle in Koyalibeda in 2012 in which a policeman and two Maoist rebels were killed, the 2003 Rowghat ambush, as well as several other incidents, the ASP said.

His wife, 'Jano', a native of Narayanpur, served as a section commander of Maoist military platoon number one of the same battalion, he said.

Allegedly, she had accompanied her husband in the Jhara camp attack and the police claims to have records of her involvement in the Maharabeda ambush which killed 27 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel in 2010, killing of three policemen in Mainpur the same year, the Orchha ambush in which three policemen were killed in 2008 and many more, the ASP said.

Similarly, Dalsai Badde who allegedly served as a member of the divisional action team of the outlawed Communist Party of India (Maoist) in the Rajnandgaon region has been involved in several serious criminal offences, he said.

All of them would be rehabilitated as per the policy of the Chhattisgarh state government, he said.
