A pro-quota Maratha organisation today staged a demonstration outside the house of BJP MLA Medha Kulkarni here.
As part of the ongoing agitation, the Sakal Maratha Kranti Morcha had announced that its members would hold protests outside the residences of MLAs and MPs.
Members of the Morcha gathered outside Kulkarni's house in Dahanukar Colony today, and when she did not come out to talk to them, they started shouting slogans, said a police officer.
Police detained 51 persons who were released later, he said.
Some of the agitators were also miffed with Kulkarni's reported statement calling protests outside legislators' houses a "stunt".

The Kothrud MLA denied having made such as a statement.
She also alleged that some of the protesters hurled bottles at her house, tried to barge in and used "unparliamentary" language.
"I was not informed about the agitation outside my house by members of MKM in advance. When it started, Iwas in my office, soIconveyed a message through police that I can accept their memorandum at my office," Kulkarni said.
But the agitators chose to remain outside her residence, she said.
Kulkarni also claimed that she herself had taken part in the silent procession taken out by Maratha organisations in the city in support of their demands in September 2016.
