Market committee secy caught red-handed while accepting bribe

The secretary of a market committee was today caught red-handed by Punjab Vigilance Bureau sleuths while accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000.

Dalbir Singh, who was posted at Dhoodhan Sadha village in Patiala district, was caught accepting the bribe from a commission agent, allegedly for relaxing some fees in the auction process.

The said agent had approached the bureau and alleged that Singh was demanding a bribe from him, a vigilance official said here.

Following the complaint, a vigilance team laid a trap and arrested the accused in the presence of two government officials who served as witnesses.
