Max Landis to Write, helm 'American Werewolf in London' remake

Filmmaker Max Landis is set to direct and write the remake of "American Werewolf in London."

"The Walking Dead" creator Robert Kirkman and cohort David Albert will produce the remake for Universal, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The original 1981 cult classic was directed by Max's father John Landis.

Also producing will be Todd Garner and Matt Smith. Max and Andy Trapani will executive produce.

The original movie was about two Americans backpacking in the English countryside who are attacked by a creature. Weeks later, the lone survivor begins to see apparitions of his dead friend, who warns him that he is turning into a werewolf.
