The maximum temperatures hovered above normal levels in most parts of Punjab and Haryana Thursday.
UT Chandigarh, the joint capital of both states, registered its maximum temperature at 35.2 degrees Celsius, two notches above normal limits, according to the MeT Department here.
Among other places in Haryana, Ambala, Hisar, Bhiwani and Karnal recorded maximum temperatures at 33.9, 37.3, 34.6 and 34.4 degrees Celsius, respectively.
In Punjab, Amritsar recorded a high of 36.1 degrees Celsius while Ludhiana and Patiala recorded their maximum temperatures at 35.2 and 35.6 degrees Celsius, respectively.
According to a forecast by the MeT Department, rains or thundershowers are likely to occur at isolated places in Punjab and Haryana over the next two days.
