Mentha oil prices rose 1.06 per cent to Rs 1,448 per kg in futures market today as speculators created fresh positions amid pick-up in demand from consuming industries in the domestic spot market.
Furthermore, tight stocks position on restricted supplies from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh too supported the upside in prices.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in the current month rose Rs 15.30, or 1.06 per cent, to Rs 1,448 per kg, clocking a business volume of 121 lots.
The oil for February delivery also up Rs 9.10, or 0.68 per cent, at Rs 1,336 per kg, with a trading volume of 100 lots.
Marketmen said increased bets by speculators, driven by firm demand from consuming industries in the spot market against restricted supplies from Chandausi, led to the rise in mentha oil prices.
