A 14-year-old boy was apprehended while allegedly trying to supply 2,000 narcotic tablets to inmates lodged in the district jail here, an official said today.
The boy was held with narcotic tablets during checking at the entry point of the jail while his accomplice Furkan managed to escape, Jailor A K Singh said.
The duo had come to meet an inmate here, he said.
Police have registered a case in this regard.
Meanwhile, 20-year-old Atif, an inmate of the district jail, attempted suicide, the jailor said.
His attempt to hang himself failed after a jail worker caught him, he said.
Jail officials are interrogating him, he added.
