A minor girl missing from Chanakyapuri area here has been rescued from Bilaspur in Chattisgarh and one person arrested for kidnapping her, police said today.
The girl who had gone to school in Chanakyapuri area did not return to her home on September 1. A case of kidnapping was registered in this connection at Chanakyapuri police station, said a senior police officer of New Delhi district police.
During investigation police found that a neighbour of the girl, Ram Lal, was also missing from the day the girl failed to return home from school.
Several raids were conducted but the girl remained untraced. Finally, a police team reached Ram Lal's home state Chattisgarh and rescued the girl and the arrested the accused from Bilaspur, said the officer.
The accused who is a daily wager had promised to marry the girl and good life afterwards prompting her to run away with him. The accused has been sent to judicial custody and further investigation is going on, the officer added.
