Mock drill at Kochi airport

A mock drill was held at the international airport here to evaluate the preparedness of the airport in case of an ebola scare.

Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) sources said that as per the directive of the central health ministry, the mock drill was held here two days ago on the WHO stipulated standard operative procedures to be followed in case of an ebola-affected person travelling through the airport.

All the stakeholders, including CIAL's operation security, Ground handling division, CISF, Airport Authority of India, Amrita Hospital unit at the airport, Customs and Immigration were involved as part of the drill, the sources said.
 

Awareness campaign on board flights has also commenced.

Though Kochi does not get direct flights from the ebola virus infested areas, on an average 8-10 passengers travel daily from the infested countries.
