Moderate earthquake rattles southern Mexico

A moderate earthquake has shaken the southern Mexican state of Oaxaca. There are no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

The US Geological Survey says the quake had a preliminary magnitude of 5.5 and struck at a depth of about 110 kilometers.

Its epicenter was 10 kilometers east of the city of Palomares, and residents in the state capital reported feeling it.
