Several parts of Himachal Pradesh today witnessed moderate to heavy rains due to western disturbance following which the maximum and minimum temperatures dropped making the weather pleasant.
Gohar and Ghumarwin were the wettest places in the state, each receiving 62 mm of rains while 57 and 55 mm of rains respectively were recorded in Bilaspur and Sunnibhajji.
Bijahi received 39 mm of rains, Pachhad 31mm, Pandoh 30mm, Dharampur, Kasauli andSolan 26 mm, Kahu 25 mm, Berthin 23 mm, Sundernagar and Jubbarhatti 22 mm each, a Met department official said.
State capital Shimla received 18 mm of rains while Una and Kumarsein recorded 10 mmand 9 mm respectively.
"The rains are result of western disturbances and are not the pre-monsoon rains. Monsoon is likely to hit the state by the end of June," Director of local MeT office, Manmohan Singh said.
Following the rains, maximum temperature dropped to 35.6 degree Celsius at Una while it was 32.2 deg C and 31.4 deg C in Bhuntar and Dharamsala. 28.4 degree Celsius was recorded in Una while it was 28.3 deg C in Sundernagar, Manali had 25.6 deg C, Solan 24.5 deg C, Shimla 23.7 deg C and Kalpa21.6 degree Celsius.
Minimum temperatures also dropped with Manali being the coldest place in the state with a minimum temperature of 8.4 degrees Celsius, followed by Kalpa and Keylong each 9.4 deg C, Shimla 12 deg C, Solan 15.5 deg C, Dharamsala 16.4 deg C, Nahan 16.7 deg C, Bhuntar 17 deg C, Sundernagar 18.7 deg C and Una 21 degrees Celsius.
The MeT office has predicted rains and thundershowers in the lower and mid hills for next six days while rainy spell would revive in higher hills from June 10 onwards.
Between June 1 and June 7, Bilaspur, Sirmaur, Solan and Mandi received202, 168, 124 and 68 per cent excess rains while Kinnaur, Lahaul and Spiti and Kullu had 98, 79 and 59 per cent less rains, Met office said.
