Modi's observation on Muslims similar to Cong views:Chandy

Chandy said the recent reverse in the bye-elections had made Modi realise the worth of Indian muslims

Press Trust of India Kozhikode
Kerala Chief minister Oommen chandy today said Congress had been telling for several years what Prime Minister Narendra Modi had remarked on Muslims in a television interview on Friday.

Inaugurating a special convention organised for the Congress booth committee presidents at the Kozhikode District Congress Committee office, Chandy said his party's stand was that for the mistake of an individual, it was not fair to criticise a particular community as a whole.

Expressing doubt on the sincerity of Modi's observation on muslims, he alleged that BJP had accused Congress of minority appeasement.

Chandy said the recent reverse in the bye-elections had made Modi realise the worth of Indian muslims.

The party would be rejuvenated in the state after the "Janapaksha rally" led by KPCC President V M Sudheeran.

Speaking on the occasion, Sudheeran urged the people to work unitedly to strengthen the party.

Among those who spoke included Kerala state Home Minister, Ramesh Chennithala.
