MP logs steady rise in tourist footfalls since 2012

Madhya Pradesh has witnessed an increase of 10 per cent in arrival of tourists, both domestic and foreign, in the state since 2012.

More than 7.83 crore tourists including 4.21 lakh foreigners visited various places in the state last year, while in 2014, over 6.39 crore tourists including 3.16 lakh foreign nationals visited the state, a Public Relation Department official said today.

In 2013, the figure stood at 6.33 crore, including 2.80 lakh tourists of other countries while in 2012 it was 5.34 crore tourists of which 2.75 lakh were foreign nationals, he said.

More than eight crore devotees visited the month-long Simhasth Kumbh mela held in Ujjain this year, the official added.
