A Sub-Divisional Officer posted with Rural Engineering Services department at Khilchipur in Rajgarh district was caught while allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a contractor by Lokayukta Police today.
"Lokeshwar Jharbade has demanded the bribe from the contractor for clearing his payment of Rs 27 lakh for the construction of a local market (Haat Bazar) at Jhadmau village under Zeerapur Janpad Panchayat area," said Lokayukta Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) N S Rathore.
Acting on a tip-off, a trap was laid and Jharbade was caught red-handed taking Rs 10,000 bribe in the morning in Zeerapur town, he said.
A case under Prevention of Corruption Act was registered against him and further investigations are on.
