A 40-year-old assistant engineer of the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) was today arrested by the sleuths of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), for allegedly accepting a ceiling fan as bribe at Wadgaon Maval, 55 km from here.

"We arrested Rajesh Hingankar while accepting a ceiling fan as a bribe to provide electricity connection to one of the customer of the complainant, who is an electric contractor," Superintendent of Police, ACB, Pune Unit Shirish Sardeshpande said.

The complainant, seeking an electricity meter for a customer, had paid the mandatory fees to MSEDCL, the officer said.

Following a complaint, a trap was laid this afternoon at his office and Hingankar was apprehended, police said.
