Mumbai cop held for taking bribe of Rs 3 lakh

An inspector in suburban Borivili here was arrested today for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 3 lakh, police said.

Senior Police Inspector Subhash Chavan, attached with MHB police station, had demanded Rs 4 lakh from the complainant, who runs a studio, for not taking action against his illegal plot, a release by Anti Corruption Bureau said.

Following the complaint, a trap was laid and Chavan was nabbed while accepting a bribe of Rs 3 lakh, it said.

The inspector was arrested and a case under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act registered, it added.
