Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda today alleged that the transfer of the HT Transmission and Distribution system of Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) to West Bengal was on the anvil depriving the state's stake.

"We got the information that the acting Chairman of DVC had on April 21 chaired a meeting in Kolkata and discussed issues of handing over the assets to the government of West Bengal, which indicates a conspiracy being hatched against Jharkhand, one of the stake holders," Munda alleged.

Munda said that he has written to the Election Commission and has also sought President Pranab Mukherjee's intervention into the matter.

"The transfer of HT Transmission and Distribution system to Bengal would allow the transfer of ownership of Durgapur barrage and the entire irrigation system thereof to the Government of West Bengal," Munda has written in his letter to the ECI.

"Jharkhand is one of the stake holders in the DVC operations. I don't know whether anyone from Jharkhand had represented the meeting on April 21," Munda said expresssing his doubts that it was an attempt to 'please someone'.
