Prime Minister Narendra Modi should name the BJP-run states where farmers have got benefits of "interest-free loans" and "loan waiver" schemes, the state president of Kisan Manch today demanded.

"Modiji should come forward with the list of BJP-run states where farmers have been benefited with loan waiver as well as interest-free loan schemes," Shekhar Dixit said here.

He asked BJP to elaborate the data of farmers, benefited by union government under such schemes.

Apprehending tilt of farmers towards Congress owing to promise made by Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi regarding loan waiver and power bill half schemes, he claimed BJP has come up with "loan waiver and interest-free loan" schemes as it is nothing but to misguide the farmers.

"Had BJP been so farmer-oriented, it would have given the benefit of both the schemes by now to farmers of the country by introducing them through union government," he said.

Dixit termed BJP's commitment towards payment of arrears of cane growers as shedding "crocodile tears".

Challenging BJP for its commitment to pay arrears of farmers in 14 days, he said "the fact is that arrears of farmers are gradually increasing and they are still hankering for relief".

Dixit alleged demonetisation has adversely affected farmers since for want of money, neither could they purchase hybrid seeds nor use fertilisers for crops.

"The waiving of import duty and price rise of wheat by 30 per cent at this stage is benefiting only brokers," he alleged adding wheat of farmers would come to the market only after about two months.

"Farmers are not even getting the benefit of Prime Minister's crop insurance scheme properly so far," he concluded.
