Condoling the death of solider Pitabas Majhi in Uri sector, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen today announced an ex-gratia of Rs ten lakh for the family members of the martyr.
Pitabas Majhi of Nuapada district, had succumbed to injuries after being hit by a bullet on the night of September 22 during a combing operation following the Uri attack in Jammu and Kashmir.
An official statement said Rs five lakh would be given from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund and remaining Rs five lakh from the state government's defence and para-military employees' assistance fund.

This apart, the state government also made provision of Rs 2,000 pension per month for the next of the kin of the martyr from the defence and para-military employees' assistance fund.
Patnaik expressed grief over the incident and highly praised the bravery of Pitabas Majhi.
