The heavily armed naxalites, numbering about 40, shot dead the deputy head Umesh Singh (35) and his son Kunal (12) before partially damaging their house by detonating dynamite, the Inspector General of Police (Trihut range) Gupteshwar Pandey told PTI.
The ultras fired 40 rounds in the air to terrorise the villagers before making good their escape, the IGP said.
The naxalites also used loudspeaker to tell the villagers that they should not fear as they have come to take action against the deputy pramukh, Pandey said.
He said that senior officials were camping in the village.
