Seeking to record the "amazing journey" of cadets from selection procedure to parade on Rajpath for posterity, the NCC has commissioned a documentary film on the ongoing Republic Day camp here.
"These camps take place year after year, and cadets go through a life-changing experience. And, so we thought it would be only befitting to crystallise these experiences in a film so that future cadets and other youth can know what these camps entail and get inspired," a senior NCC official told PTI.
The Republic Day Camp 2017 is currently underway at the Delhi Cantonment. Vice President Hamid Ansari had officially inaugurated it on January 6.

In his address he had said, "The NCC, with its motto of Ekta aur Anushasan (Unity and Discipline) has been providing our young people with opportunities for self-development and avenues to fulfil their potential for growth.
"In doing so, NCC is playing an important role in shaping the character and moral fibre of our young people, and ultimately the effectiveness and dynamism of the nation."
Asked what details the film would capture, the official said, "It would capture the entire gamut of activities, from selection procedure to the R-Day parade."
"The cadets are selected through a tough competition, and so we will try and bring that part in the film. Besides, during their stay, they take up a number of adventure and outdoor activities, from horse riding and equestrian to parasailing, band display and simulated army action. So, these activities would also be documented," he added.
The idea was proposed by Director General of the National Cadet Corps, Lt Gen Vinod Vashisht, who thought it would be a great idea to document the camp experience for cadets coming in future camps, he said.
"Once the cadets go back, they take away the experience with them. The film, once ready, can now be shown to future cadets and to the youth in general. And, surely it will inspire them," the official said.
Besides the Vice President, Minister of State for Defence Subhash Bhamre yesterday visited the camp and encouraged the cadets to contribute to nation building.
Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar is also expected to visit the camp soon. And, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with the cadets during the PM Rally after the Republic Day parade.
2,068 cadets, including 696 girl cadets, drawn from the 17 directorates covering all the states and union territories are participating in the camp.
"This also includes 102 cadets from Jammu and Kashmir and 162 from the north-east," Vashisht said.
