New policy to promote hospitality sector in Punjab

Punjab will soon roll out an exclusive policy to promote the hospitality sector of the state by attracting investments from private players.

Announcing this here today, an official spokesperson said the state also looks forward to some major investments in the tourism sector.

Punjab is in advanced stages of developing a 4,400 acres of entertainment circuit in Ludhiana, that will include hotels, restaurants, shopping malls, sports parlours and safaris, he said.

The project will start by the end of this year and is likely to be completed by 2018.

Besides, the state is also in the process of setting up two trade fair centres and as many convention centres at Mohali and Amritsar.
 

Another project in the offing aims at promoting tourism and hospitality sector around the Green Water Lake near Pathankot on the lines of resorts in Maldives island, he said.
