The National Green Tribunal, which had restrained Delhi Jal Board (DJB) from spending money on Yamuna, today asked it to submit complete details of the works they plan to complete and the funds required for them.

A bench headed by NGT Chairperson Justice Swatanter Kumar directed DJB to file an affidavit mentioning specifications of the work awarded to contractors, besides time when the tender was invited and awarded.

"DJB was required to furnish complete and comprehensive details about work which they proposed to get completed on which they wish to make payment. Let an affidavit be filed stating whether the awarded work forms part of the Phase-I project submitted by the DJB...

"Whether the work of the project has been completed in its entirety or partially, if completed, whether any inspection conducted and satisfactory certificate has been issued by the DJB for completion of the work or not. If incomplete, the extent of work executed and the remaining," the bench said.

The matter is listed for next hearing on April 8.

Earlier, it had directed DJB not to surrender the amount allocated to it in the last fiscal for rejuvenation of Yamuna to the Delhi government.

The green panel also made it clear that DJB would spend these funds during the year for implementation of its 'Maili se Nirmal Yamuna Revitalisation Project'.

On March 21, the tribunal had slammed DJB for spending money on Yamuna without its permission and directed it not to spend a "single penny" on rejuvenation of the river without its approval.
