Nickel futures down on subdued demand

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Amid a weak trend in the spot markets and profit-booking by speculators, nickel traded 0.25 per cent lower at Rs 1,057.60 per kg in futures trade today.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel for delivery in September fell Rs 2.70, or 0.25 per cent, to Rs 1,057.60 per kg in a business turnover of 582 lots.

The metal for delivery in October also went down by Rs 2.60, or 0.24 per cent, to Rs 1,065.30 per kg in a turnover of 60 lots.

Analysts said the fall in nickel prices at futures trade was mostly in tandem with a weakening trend at the domestic spot markets due to subdued demand, but a firming trend in base metals overseas capped the losses.
