Nickel sheds 0.13% on profit-booking

Traders exit on subdued offtake from alloy makers

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Nickel prices fell by 0.13 per cent to Rs 1,127.40 per kg in futures trade today as speculators indulged in booking profits.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel for delivery in August declined by Rs 1.50, or 0.13 per cent, to Rs 1,127.40 per kg in a business turnover of 1,132 lots.

September nickel shed 60 paise, or 0.05 per cent, to Rs 1,135 per kg in 126 lots.

Analysts said the fall in nickel prices in futures trade was largely due to profit-booking by speculators at current levels and subdued demand from alloy-makers.

Besides, weakness in copper and other metals at Shanghai Futures Exchange also weighed on nickel futures here, they said.
