Noted Marathi writer H M Marathe no more

Noted Marathi writer and senior journalist H M Marathe passed away following a prolonged illness at a hospital here today, his family sources said.

He was 77.

Born on March 2, 1940 in the Konkan region of Maharashtra, Marathe was widely known as 'Ha Mo' in the literary circle.

During his illustrious career, Marathe penned several books, including 'Nishparna Vrikshavar Bhar Dupari', 'Kaleshar Pani', 'Annanchi Topi (short stories compilation), 'Baalkand', 'Pohra', 'News Story' and 'Kaliyug'.

He also worked in newspapers and magazines in various capacities, including as an editor.

His last rites were performed here today.
