NTPC pays Rs 1,545 cr dividend to govt for 2014-15

State-run power producer NTPC has has paid a total dividend of Rs 1,545.15 crore to the government for the financial year 2014-15.

The company paid an interim dividend amounting to Rs 618.41 crore on February 13, 2015, NTPC said in a statement today.

Today, the company has paid the final dividend amounting to Rs 1,442.96 crore, it said.

This is the 22nd consecutive year that NTPC has paid dividend.

"The RTGS advice for the transfer of Rs 1,081.61 crore to Government of India, being the share of Government of India in the final dividend, was presented by A K Jha, CMD, NTPC to Piyush Goyal, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Power, Coal and New & Renewable Energy today," the company said.
 

NTPC paid a total dividend at a rate of 25 per cent of its paid-up capital for the financial year 2014-15, amounting to Rs 2,061.37 crore. The dividend payment is fifth highest among Public Sector Undertakings, it said.
