NTPC signs Rs 3,000 cr worth of term loans

State-owned power producer NTPC today said it has signed term loan agreements for Rs 3,000 crore to part finance its capital expenditure.

One pact has been signed for Rs 2,000 crore with HDFC Bank and another for Rs 1,000 crore with Syndicate Bank.

"Both loan agreements have a door-to-door tenure of 15 years and will be utilised to part finance the capital expenditure of NTPC," the company said in a statement.

The company has already started work on the expansion of Telangana's Ramagundam power plant to 2x800 MW.

The current capacity of the thermal power station at Ramagundam is 2,600 MW. This expansion is part of the 4,000 MW power plant proposed to be set up in Telangana state.
 

Of the proposed 4,000 MW capacity, 1,600 MW will be installed at the existing location in Ramagundam.

The current installed capacity of NTPC is 43,128 MW.
