Octogenarian arrested for attacking cow

A 85-year-old person was arrested and later let off on bail for allegedly attacking a cow with a sharp-edged weapon at suburban Guduvanchery, police said today.

V Balu, angered by the cow defecating on dry chilli spread out by him before his house, attacked it with a sharp-edged weapon, injuring it in its leg, police said.

He was arrested based on a complaint from Blue Cross of India, police said, adding, the cow was sent to a veterinary clinic for treatment after being administered with first aid.

A local court later let him on bail, they said.
