Odisha CM lays foundation stone of new medical college

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today laid the foundation stone for a new medical college to be built here at the cost of Rs 300 crore.
"I am delighted to lay the foundation stone for a new medical college in Balasore," the Chief Minister said after the foundation laying ceremony.
Health minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak who attended the ceremony said Rs 300 crore has been allotted for building the medical college and courses in the institution will commence from 2017.

In addition, funds have also been allocated for the upgradation of the existing district headquarters hospital here, he said.
The chief minister also inaugurated a regional agriculture festival at Balasore town and said "the state government is sincere in implementing programmes for the growth of agriculture and upliftment of people engaged in this vital sector."
Steps have been taken for providing insurance cover to for farmers as promised by BJD in its election manifesto, Patnaik said.
