Official calls sorcerer in prison for exorcism; gets notice

District Magistrate Sandip Kumar Pudkal Kutty served the show cause notice to the district prison superintendent Devendra Prasad and asked him to explain his conduct in inviting a sorcerer in the jail, official sources said today.

Further action would be taken against the jail officer on the basis of his reply to the show cause notice, they said quoting the district magistrate.

Prasad had brought the sorcerer, Imamuddin, to the jail last week in his official vehicle to conduct an exorcism following the death of a prisoner after other prisoners claimed that they had seen his ghost.
