Ola rolls backs peak pricing on election day

Cab aggregator Ola today claimed it will not use peak pricing mechanism tomorrow on the day when the state goes for fifth phase of polling, which includes Kolkata South.
Piyush Surana, Business Head, East at Ola said "We have rolled back peak pricing on the Ola app in Kolkata on April 30 between 7 AM and 7 PM to encourage citizens to exercise their vote in the West Bengal Assembly elections."
"We are also working towards ensuring maximum availability of cabs in the city, to help more and more citizens get to their nearby polling booths conveniently," he said.

Peak Pricing mechanism is generally used by Ola and Uber to raise fare if demand is high. Demand for cabs on a election day is unlikely to be similar to a usual working day.
Peak Pricing is also gradually turning a matter of concern and a few state governments have banned it for the benefit of commuters. West Bengal government is yet to take a call on it.
