One person died and five others were seriously injured after they accidentally came in contact with high tension electricity cables during a fair in a village in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh tonight, police said.
The incident occurred at Ramraju Palli village of Peddavadugur mandal of the district at around 9 PM when a group of devotees were pulling bullock-carts and a wet 40-feet wooden stick erected on one of the carts came in contact with high-tension wires killing one on the spot while injuring five others, they said.
"A team of police and district officials rushed to the spot to carry out relief and rescue operation," Anantapur Superintendent of Police S Senthil Kumar told PTI over phone.

The area which is near Gooty under Tadipatri Police Sub-Division limits, was entirely dark when the incident occurred.
The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals, another police officer said adding that a large number of devotees were participating in the Sunkulamma Devi fair in the village.
