One held for possessing cannabis

A pan-shop owner was arrested for allegedly possessing cannabis here today, police said.

Acting on a tip-off, officials of the Anti Narcotic Cell (ANC) raided the pan shop in Naupada area here and arrested its owner Ashok Jaiswar (39), ANC chief PI Mandar Dharmadhikari said.

Cannabis worth Rs 2.80 lakh in international market was seized from his possession, he said.

A case under relevant sections of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered and investigations are underway, the officer said.
