Motorcycle-borne gunmen
today shot dead a youth and injured his panchayat secretary father after they resisted their attempt to rob them at Narpatganj in Araria district of Bihar.
"The secretary of Achra panchayat, Bharat Prasad Yadav and his son Shivshankar alias Guddu were travelling in a car for distributing 'old age pension' in his area when they were attacked at Khaira Gadiya village along National Highway-57," Additional Superintendent of Police Vijay Kumar Verma said.
"They were carrying around Rs 2.22 lakh for distribution, when criminals riding on two motorcycles waylaid them. They tried to loot the money, but the two resisted. The angry criminals then shot Shivshankar in his head and injured the panchayat secretary," Verman said.
The youth was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead, he said.
His father is out of danger. The police is conducting raids to nab the criminals.
