One killed in firing over property dispute

A 60-year-old farmer was killed and his wife and daughter-in-law injured today after they were fired upon allegedly by their family members over some property dispute, police said.

Kalwa was killed in the incident while his 55-year-old wife Mukhtari, and his daughter-in-law Nazri were injured when the deceased's nephew Suleiman and cousin Noor Hassan opened fire on them while they were asleep, Suroorpur police station in-charge Surendra Nath said.

Police said Kalwa was childless and had adopted his neighbour Shabbir's son Bhoora. Nazri is Bhoora's wife.

Primary investigation suggests that Kalwa was going to handover 22 'bigha' plot of land to Bhoora today, Nath said.
 

Kalwa's nephew Suleiman and cousin Noor Hassan were not happy about it, he said.

It is alleged that these two are involved in the crime and effors are on to nab them, he said.
