One person arrested in jewellery shop dacoity case

Police today arrested one person in connection with a two-month-old dacoity case at a jewellery shop in southern part of the city's Jodhpur Park area.

The accused identified as Lisham Ibumgtomba Singh (38) of Lisham Leirak of Manipur was nabbed yesterday in Siliguri after he was caught red-handed by the public when he along with other tried to rob a jewellery shop there, a senior officer of Kolkata Police said.

The accused was then handed over to Kolkata Police who arrested him today.

When produced at a city court, the accused was remanded to police custody till October 17, he said.
 

"We will talk to him to get information about his associates. We also need to know what they have done with the jewellery they had robbed from the shop here in Kolkata," the police officer said.

On July 27, our masked persons wearing rain coats entered at a jewellery shop in southern part of the city's Jodhpur Park area and decamped with gold ornaments and some gem stones worth nearly over Rs two lakh.
