Jammu and Kashmir Police today claimed to have busted an inter-state drug racket with the arrest of a person and seized a huge consignment of drugs from a Srinagar-bound truck in Ramban district.

The truck, which was coming from Delhi, was intercepted at Nashri on Jammu-Srinagar national highway yesterday. A search of the vehicle led to the seizure of 1,200 bottles of the banned Codorex syrup, widely used by drug addicts, a police officer said.

The truck was seized and its driver, Yaseen Ahmad Mir, was arrested for trying to smuggle the consignment, he said.

The officer said the police was interrogating the driver to arrest his associates.

A case under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act was registered against the accused, he said.
