One person killed in roof collapse

One person was killed when the roof of a house collapsed in southwest Delhi's Bindapur area today.

The deceased, identified as Ashwani (35), was residing as a tenant in the house and he was declared brought dead by the hospital authorities, police said.

The roof collapsed around 1 pm and the other occupants of the house, who were in the other room, had a narrow escape, said a senior police officer.

"The house was quite old and rickety and the owner had not repaired. The owner of the house has been booked under section 304 A (Causing death by negligence). He escaped from the spot and we are on the lookout for him," added the officer.
