One trampled to death by elephants

A herd of wild elephants trampled to death a tea garden labourer and damaged several houses at Kaliabor in Assam's Nagaon district today, police said.

The wild tuskers killed the labourer, identified as Ramsing Tanti (48) of Sakmuthi tea estate at Segunbari when he was working in his field in the morning hour, they said.

The pachyderms then damaged several houses in the area, they added.
